Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Laboratory is currently seeking someone with 1 to 5 years of experience whose primary skills will be in design, coding, and testing of big data software. Experience with SELinux or MLS concepts is a plus. Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to interact with other scientists and engineers.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than August, 2019
  • Java Web frameworks (Java 7)
  • Big Data
  • Cloudera, Hortonworks or MAPR Hadoop Environments
  • Accumulo
  • Spark
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS
  • Technical diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
  • Ability to acquire new skills efficiently
  • Thrives in collaborative environment

  • Ansible
  • Distributed File Systems or Distributed Computing
  • Cloudera or Hortonworks Big Data Certification

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
