The Components Research Exploratory Integrated Circuits Team is responsible for delivering breakthrough solutions to advance power/performance of computing paradigms beyond conventional CMOS. The integration engineer role involves leading research and development in order to assess and build prototypes which provide compelling demonstrations of technology potential for improved power and performance. Collaboration is required across multidisciplinary teams in defining goals, developing the vision and value proposition, aligning strategy and driving fast paced research and development to meet timelines.

Components Research Integration Engineers in this role will:

  • Leverage device physics theory, materials, chemistry and process innovations to drive research on novel computing paradigms beyond conventional CMOS.

  • Work collaboratively with device, module, reliability, and analytical labs (SIMs, TEM, XPS, Raman, TXRF, etc...) across fabrication sites to drive experiments

  • Generate relevant data and models for the advancement of all basic elements of prototype systems.

  • Use understanding of device physics to quantify and benchmark current experiments with best known methods, literature/academia, and best in class.

  • Mentor of external research in academia and industry consortia in order to fill Intel's internal research pipeline

Activities include coordinating semiconductor device fabrication experiments in both 300mm development and/or coupon line facilities, analytical data collection and communication in a team environment with a broad spectrum of experts in the fields of materials, electronics, physics, and chemistry.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.


You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of education/research and relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related discipline. Must have the required degree or expect the required degree by March 2022.

6+ months experience in following areas:

  • Semiconductor device fabrication and physical characterization techniques: ferroelectric, magnetoelectric and spintronic materials.

  • Semiconductor device physics and device characterization: optical, magnetic characterization.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication process including working knowledge of the enabling modules.

  • Emphasis in Solid State Material and Semiconductor Device Physics, digital and analog Circuit Design and Analysis, CMOS Process Technology

  • Hands-on experience with AC/DC electrical testing and equipment such as oscilloscope, pulse generator, semiconductor parameter analyzer (CV-IV)

  • Proficiency in design of experiment, statistical analysis methods and analysis software.

  • Familiarity and understanding of unconventional process technologies for novel materials such as epitaxy and patterning techniques.
