Key Functions
The successful candidate will be a valuable addition to the Surveillance and Broadcast Applications Development Department, a leader in the global aviation community. In this challenging position, the candidate will perform research on time-based air traffic control applications and perform engineering analyses on aircraft systems requirements that address a variety aviation challenges.
The candidate will apply aeronautical and systems engineering and scientific programming skills to prototype and analyze aviation system performance and capacity-enhancing procedures taking advantage of emerging surveillance technologies and knowledge in the modeling aircraft systems.

 For example,
Coordinate systems and coordinate transformations (WGS-84, flat-Earth coordinates, aircraft body-frame, wind frame)
Aircraft modeling (3-DOF, point mass models, including knowledge of various aircraft data models)
4D Trajectory generation
Atmospheric modeling
General knowledge in control theory

Knowledge in software programming for analysis and leading practices for software development. Some representative activities may include:
Design and implementation of flexible software architecture to support fast-time simulation
Integration of prototype functionality developed in MATLAB to other programming languages, such as C/C++ and Java
Unit testing and validation of new functions and development of regression tests
Efficiency improvements for runtime


Educational background in aeronautical engineering with at least a Master's degree and graduate-level or professional experience.

Education or 3-5 years of experience developing software for simulation and analysis of aeronautical systems, such as aircraft flight trajectories with environmental considerations, aircraft avionics performance, or air traffic control systems.

Articulate and able to communicate complex subjects in simplified, consumable terms.

Ability and interest in developing an understanding of ill-defined concepts or problems and create definition and clarity.

Able to effectively manage their time working on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Published multiple technical/analytical papers at aviation conferences or technical journals.
