Automated Test Engineer - CIPHER

Job Description

Seeking someone with 1 to 5 years of experience whose primary responsibilities will be in developing automated testing suites for secure Java and Java/Type-Script based web applications using tools like Selenium and Jmeter. On occasion, manual test procedure creation and execution will be needed as well in cases where the needed tests can not be automated. Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to interact with other scientists and engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Job Duties

  • Actively develop automated test software 75% of the time.
  • Work closely with members of the project's software and test engineering teams to refine requirements, formulate technical approaches, collaborate with other engineers/managers/sponsors, review code, and mentor the team.
  • Participate in product definition activities including feature analysis and project scope analysis.
  • Ensure maximum code coverage of automated and manual tests.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in CS, computer/electrical engineering, software test engineering, or a related technical area.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in CS, computer/electrical engineering, software test engineering, or a related technical area and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in CS, computer/electrical engineering, software test engineering, or a related technical area and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in CS, computer/electrical engineering, software test engineering, or a related technical area.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 to 5 years experience in applicable areas.
  • Willing to pursue an advanced degree.
  • Strong test engineering and technical diagnostic expertise including problem identification, investigation, and reproduction skills.
  • Ability to acquire new skills efficiently.
  • Thrives in collaborative environment.
  • Experience creating automated tests using tools like Selenium.
  • Some knowledge/experience with Java Web frameworks (Java 8).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing application performance tests with Jmeter.
  • Browser UI experience especially AngularJS 1.x and Angular 2+.
  • J2SE (Java Servlets, JSPs, JMS)
  • TestNG, Mockito, Spock, Jasmine
  • Web Services - SOAP, XML, REST, JSON (X)HTML, CSS, LESS, JavaScript, Ajax, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Gradle, Webpack
  • IntelliJ IDEA, Git
  • Some development experience with Java Web frameworks (Java 8)
  • JDBC (SQL) with Oracle database or similar relational database management systems (RDBMS)
