In RE&D, we don't sit back and let things happen, we make things happen, and we do this in service to all Apple employees and customers. Our team is a diverse and flexible group that manages Apple's workplaces and workplace services. We develop and run Apple's global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide outstanding facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of all Apple facilities, including commute and renewable energy programs, and do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world.

Conference & Production Services is a diverse and nimble team that operates Apple's Campus Conference Centers and produces internally streamed events. We're seeking an experienced Audio Engineer with Excellent written and oral communication skills and a can-do attitude to support campus venues and conference rooms in Austin. Key Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience as an audio engineer in production environments (e.g., stadiums, studios, networks, or broadcast trucks).
  • Possess a detailed understanding of various microphone types and audio DSPs, and their performance characteristics. Audio DSP programming and system design skills are a plus.
  • Expertly use, configure, and patch large-format, digital audio mixing consoles. Knowledge of SSL mixing consoles, as well as Dante and MADI is a plus.
  • Able to mix for both room sound and live-transmission feeds. Experience with L'acoustics loudspeakers is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in identifying and resolving operational errors, with strong experience in signal routing, monitoring, and quality assurance.
  • Well-rounded production experience with ability to assist in different areas (e.g. prior experience as a technical director, camera operator, editor, or other operator roles).
  • Ability to summarize and share information in a clear and easy-to-understand way, across all levels. You skillfully communicate to develop trust and positive relationships.
  • Strong vendor management and project management skills.
  • Track record delivering high-quality results, with minimal direction, in an environment where expectations are high and timelines are challenging. You multi-task and prioritize, including daily re-prioritization, and don't need to be reminded to follow-up and follow-through.
  • Able to remain flexible and prepared for changes to the schedule, including working early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
  • Act with a sense or urgency and quickly responds to emails, texts, and phone calls in order to provide a high standard of service to customers and colleagues.

Description

You'll take ownership for audio engineering operations in our campus venues and conference rooms. Activities include setting up microphones, configuring audio consoles, and performing multi-source and multi-destination sound mixing for live, recorded, and streamed events. You'll guarantee audio equipment is operational, accurately maintained, and organized-performing basic repairs, routine maintenance, and firmware upgrades.

Customer service is an important aspect of the role. You'll help customers manage their presentation content and load Keynote presentations with embedded playback content, and quickly resolve any issues that arise.

When not actively engaged with audio engineering responsibilities, you'll perform in a hybrid role, relying on your diverse production experience, to support the team. This includes cross-training to perform in other operator roles and providing high-touch AV support in conference rooms, depending on the needs of the day.

You'll also keep audio operations documents updated (e.g., line drawings, input and output sheets, standard operating procedures, and service agreements) and assist with system design and specification of audio equipment for various projects.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred.
