Advance your career as an Associate Electrical/Control System Engineer with East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), an industry-leading water and wastewater utility. EBMUD’s water system is over 100 miles long, starting in the Sierra Foothills to the East San Francisco Bay. The current vacancy is in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Engineering Section, in EBMUD’s Maintenance & Construction Department. The SCADA Engineering Section is responsible for the water operations information system including maintenance, improvements, and enhancements of computer systems related to the SCADA system.

As appropriate to the assignment, the ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in:
• Control System and Instrumentation Systems - Research, develop, interpret, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems including SCADA, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), security systems, process control strategies, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), process control elevation and layout drawings, process control panels, and PLC elementary diagrams.
• Computer and Control System Applications - Program, configure, and document PLCs, SCADA, DCS, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), wireless data communication, security systems, network routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and workstations.
• Control System Troubleshooting - Troubleshoot various process control and information systems including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, wired and wireless communication, information system network, and security systems.
• Project Planning and Management - Plan and develop project scope, schedule, and budget for complex control systems engineering projects; prepare contract bid documents; coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary teams; direct, monitor, and control project activities and ensure compliance with scope, goals, schedules, and budgets.

The salary range is $10,455 per month increasing to $10,978, $11,527, $12,103 and $12,708 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

1. Bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited electrical, control systems or closely related engineering curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate;
2. Four years of professional electrical or control systems engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), two years of which must have been at a level comparable to or higher than the EBMUD Assistant Engineer classification; AND
3. California registration as a Professional Electrical or Control Systems Engineer.
4. A valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
5. Willingness to work overtime and 24/7 standby when needed.
6. Physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the position including both office and field duties.
