The position 496403 and 496404 are each for 1 seat; the positions exist only to hire 1 person. We can either hire a RxI or RxII/SRX. We will not hire 1 person for each open job.

Job Description

The Test Application Branch (TAB) Associate Branch Head in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) supports the Branch head in providing management and technical oversight for sponsored research, supervising 10-15 full-time research faculty activities and approximately 2-4 students. Additionally, the position supports the Branch Head in coordinating with laboratory leadership on operational activities, including providing monthly performance status reports, staff planning and assignments, oversight of sponsored research projects, and business development activities.

Job Duties

  • Design, coordinate and implement Test Application solutions based on sponsor requirements
  • Provide oversight of active programs within the branch to include monitoring finances, schedule, and scope
  • Train and mentor branch members including research faculty and both undergraduate and graduate students to develop expertise in research areas and facilitate publication of novel research activities
  • Direct business development activities to include sponsor engagement and promoting branch capabilities to internal units and external organizations
  • Develop proposals and white papers for sustained branch growth
  • Support the branch head conducting administrative actions including the recruitment, hiring, and termination of branch personnel, execution of performance appraisals, development and execution of performance improvement plans, review and approval of employee timesheets, and development and submission of purchase requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in technical program management, leading, training, and/or coaching personnel (full-time, part-time, or students)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading research projects
  • Experience managing research engineers, scientists, and/or students
  • Experience developing research proposals

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
