The Department of Computer Science at the University of California at Davis invites applications for one Assistant Professor of Teaching position, with a start date in July 1, 2020 or later. This is a tenure-track teaching position. We seek candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching, service, and research. We will consider all pre-tenure candidates in any computer science specialization, including recent PhDs.

UC Davis is one of the top public universities in the nation, bringing in over $700 million annually in research funding. It includes a medical school, a law school, a school of management and the leading veterinary school in the country. The Department of Computer Science, part of the College of Engineering, has 39 faculty members, about 1200 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students. The selected candidate will join a team of three tenure-track teaching faculty who have been hired over the past five years.

UC Davis has a strong track record of contributions to social mobility, with 44% of our undergraduates being first-generation students. We anticipate becoming a designated Hispanic Serving Institution in the near future. The campus commitment to sustainability leads the nation, with the goal of carbon neutrality by 2025.

Our location provides ample opportunities for urban recreation in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area. Outdoor opportunities nearby include the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Napa Valley wine region, Lake Tahoe and the Pacific Ocean.

Applicants at the Assistant level should have received, or are about to receive, a doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching.

We particularly value candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students.

Please apply at the following link: https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF03342

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, a diversity statement, and the names of three references.

Applicants’ track record of engagement and activity related to diversity, equal opportunity, and inclusion as well as their plans for future engagement, as described in the diversity statement, will be part of the overall evaluation of all candidates.

Review of completed applications will begin February 29, 2020. The position remains open until filled.
