Position Summary:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Wisconsin- Madison is growing its faculty in the areas of solid-state electronics and quantum technologies, and optics and photonics, and is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in the area of wide- bandgap and ultrawide-bandgap semiconductor physics, materials, and devices. The department is specifically interested in candidates with a strong background and experimental expertise in the growth and synthesis of III-nitride materials for device applications in power electronics and sustainable energy systems, bioelectronics and biophotonics for healthcare technologies, and optoelectronics for computing and communications. Candidates who transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries are especially encouraged.

Principal duties:

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations; supervising graduate student research and mentoring graduate students; developing and directing a strong, extramurally funded research program; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; and contribution to professional and public service.


Degree and area of specialization:

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Candidates will have a distinguished academic record, exceptional potential in establishing an internationally recognized research program in next generation electronics and optoelectronics, specifically in the area of wide-bandgap or ultrawide-bandgap semiconductor devices (e.g., III- nitride materials), and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring.
