The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas of Cybersecurity:

•  Data security including digital forensics;

•  Software security including malware analysis, deployment and maintenance;

•  System security including vulnerability analysis and cloud computing security;

•  Network security;

•  Component security or device security including reverse engineering and security platform architecture;

•  Formal methods and language based security;

•  Human aspects of security including social engineering, usable security and privacy;

•  Interdisciplinary research cutting across Human security, Organization Security and Society Security.

Candidates from all other areas of Cybersecurity are also welcome to apply.


The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their discipline, will possess a solid publication record, and be expected to develop or continue to develop a strong research group with externally funded research program in Cybersecurity.

The CS Department is an NSA/DHS designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. We are comprised of 21 full-time faculty - including two NSF career winners - 600 undergraduates, 100 masters and 75 students in two PhD programs---one in Computer Science and the other in Cybersecurity. In 2018-19, we averaged $275K in funding per tenure track faculty member and we currently have active NSF CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) and DoD Cyber Scholarship Program (CySP) grants.

The 9-month salary range for this position is $91,000-$96,000.

Minimum Requirements

1) Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related area. Ph.D. must be conferred by date of appointment (8/17/2020).

2) At least 4 months teaching experience in an academic setting as a teaching assistant, instructor of record or the equivalent.
