Primary Purpose
Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Idaho State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, specifically seeking to advance research and education in ECE in the areas of computer engineering, cyber-physical systems, and related fields. The position has an expected start date of August 1, 2020 and will be housed on the Idaho Falls campus adjacent to the Idaho National Laboratory as part of ISU’s Polytechnic Initiative. The Polytechnic Initiative stems from a legislative allocation of $US1.4M to support faculty in Idaho Falls who complement the core mission of the Idaho National Laboratory in the generation, distribution and security of electric power. The Idaho State Board of Education has just completed construction of two state of the art buildings, the Collaborative Computing Center and the Cybercore Integration Center as collaborative centers between Idaho higher education and the national laboratory. The position also provides qualified candidates the opportunity for joint appointment with the Idaho National Laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an internationally recognized research program supported by external funding, guide research efforts in their areas of expertise, teach appropriate courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, engage in scholarly activities, participate in outreach and service activities, and contribute to the University’s distance learning priorities.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related degree by the time of appointment. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of independent scholarly activity, indicated by refereed publications, works under review, and/or works-in-progress. Applicants must be able to conduct high-quality teaching and advising at undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of ECE courses and demonstrate a commitment to graduate education at both the M.S. and Ph.D. levels.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess an outstanding record of scholarship and research contributions, with accomplishments that demonstrate the relevance of their research to the ECE field in general. A record of excellence in externally funded research, teaching, ability to effectively communicate with students, and a record of public engagement are desirable. Candidates with experience and research potential in control systems, embedded systems, autonomy, internet of things (IoT), human-in-loop, networking and privacy, real-time systems, signal security and integrity, and verification, are highly encouraged to apply.
