Assistant Professor, Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer at Binghamton University (one of the four SUNY University Centers) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor for fall 2019.

The department will consider exceptional candidates in all areas of computer engineering but is particularly interested in candidates whose primary research interests align with Binghamton University transdisciplinary areas of excellence, particularly in Data Science, Health Science, or Smart Energy.  Specific areas of interest include hardware design techniques for adaptive & resilient circuits and systems; hardware security; security of embedded systems; bioinspired and neuromorphic computing hardware; emerging architectures for high-performance or low-power computing; and wearable technology and digital health.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and have a commitment to excellence in teaching at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.

The ECE department has academic programs at the BS, MS, and PhD levels in electrical and computer engineering. Currently the program has over 320 undergraduates, 150 master’s students, and 75 PhD students, taught and mentored by 20 tenure/tenure track faculty.   The ECE department is located in a new, well-equipped research building. Primary areas of research conducted by faculty and students include: (1) DSP & Communications, (2) Power & Energy (3) Information Assurance, (4) Computer Design & Networks, (5) Micro & Opto-electronics, and (6) Controls & Laser Communication.
