Position Summary: The School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a tenure track faculty position. Priority will be given to applicants in the technical areas of Biomechatronics and Bio-MEMS. However, exceptional applicants in any area of Biomedical Engineering will be considered. This position is a 100%, continuing tenure track Assistant Professor position with a start date of August 16, 2022.

 Housed within the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics, the School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering has state-of-the-art teaching and research infrastructure. The School offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Biomedical Engineering, and provides support and excellent opportunities for the development of new faculty. To learn more visit https://engineering.siu.edu/elec/.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the school’s biomedical engineering programs. Engage in an active program of research to include publishing in peer-reviewed journals, supervising doctoral and master’s students, seeking and acquiring external funding for these efforts, and provide school/university/professional service.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have at the time of appointment a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field. ABD candidates may be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 15, 2022. If all requirements for the Ph.D. degree are not completed by that date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University Policy  (https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2 -faps/conting.php). 

 

Candidates should have an established record of outstanding-quality research publications in the sought technical areas, a commitment for excellence in teaching, and excellent oral and written communication
skills.
