The ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) in the College of Engineering is searching for qualified researchers to build and explore research in microelectronics, free-space optics, fiber optics, and liquid crystal materials that lead toward next-generation (6G) telecommunication networks. These efforts are led by Dr. Chongchang Mao, a Research Professor who recently joined Ohio State in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Mao is launching a research team focused on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) phase modulators that are the core sub-systems of reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs) for optical telecommunication networks. Positions available include a Post Doctoral Scholar (LCoS), and a Senior Research Associate (ASIC).

Qualifications:

Post Doctoral Scholar focused in optical research for LCoS development requires a PhD in Optical or Electrical Engineering. Considerable experience in Liquid Crystal optics emphasizing on modeling and prototyping in a cleanroom environment. Demonstrated ability in optical design and modeling (e.g., proficiency with LCDMaster, Comsol, Zemax, Code V, or similar). Considerable experience with scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Mathematica, or similar.

Senior Research Associate - Engineer focused in Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) requires a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Extensive experience in an engineering research capacity. Considerable experience in analog and digital VLSI design, verification, and validation. In-depth understanding Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and physical design of VLSI. Experience with the full verification life cycle, and experience in synthesis, timing closure, and analysis. Familiar with ASIC flow from micro-architecture, RTL coding, to final tape-out. Considerable experience with scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Mathematica, or similar.

Senior Research Associate to lead research and development efforts in application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC), and several graduate researcher associates.
