Job Description

A team in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a student researcher to start in spring of 2020. The student will help with benchtop testing and measurement for a large-scale radio frequency (RF) interference mitigation hardware build. The ideal candidate should be interested in:

  • Learning from a large, multi-disciplinary team
  • Thinking critically and creatively to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions for the measurement systems
  • Adapting to contribute to other tasks in the hardware build effort
  • Ensuring quality and consistency during component assembly

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering 
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Python
  • Will be running RF performance verification tests using scripts already created
  • Familiarity with basic RF principles and common hardware
  • Familiarity with cabling and set up of RF assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings
  • Interest in receiving training in RF test and in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Experience in electronic assembly and build is a plus

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
