We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Applications Engineer II. This position will be located in Rolla, MO.

As an Applications Engineer II, you are a skilled engineer and project leader that conducts applications research for all products. This individual is expected to demonstrate the ability to design, plan, and track applications projects related to product characterization, equipment design, improvement of characterization test methods, and troubleshooting of customer needs. This individual may supervise and mentor junior team members, while maintaining a strong team approach to problem solving. Frequent and thorough communication of results and project plans is expected, both within the team, and to internal customers such as R&D, Manufacturing, Product Development, and Quality Control. At this level, the engineer should distinguish themselves as an expert in some areas of technical competency or understanding.

  • Learn internal and external customer needs for process, materials, and equipment support.
  • Design and execute experiments and simulations, guide development efforts, and lead project teams.
  • Protect confidential information. Make clear, thorough entries in lab notebooks, sign notebook pages, and provide and obtain witness signatures.
  • Use lab equipment such as spin coaters, hot plates, ellipsometers, microscopes, plasma etchers, and related equipment.
  • Tool owner for semiconductor equipment including: maintaining performance of tool, establishing consistent procedures for operation, developing and consistently running controls for tool, working with OEM and maintenance when tool is down, guiding internal customers on best practices with tool, and continually learning and applying continuous improvement measures for both processing and equipment.
  • Analyze experimental results using statistical methods and communicate results in a way that is understandable to internal and external customers
  • Develop and improve test methods, finding creative ways to overcome technical limitations hindering a better understanding of product functions and limits
  • Continuously communicate to R&D, Manufacturing, and other internal functional organizations any significant findings from product characterization.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical) required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Six years’ experience in semiconductor industry and/or engineering experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience
