Job Title: Application Engineer - Security
Location: North Carolina - Charlotte

Provide technical support to the south-east region of the United States as an Application Engineer (Security) with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories! If you are looking for an opportunity to grow as an engineer, travel and solve real world security problems, train customers on SEL products and become recognized as an industry expert in a fast-growing global company, then this position is for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems, security and all related SEL products.
2. Help customers apply SEL security and communication products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
3. Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.
4. Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.
5. Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel.
6. Maintain customer database for customer application and quality information.
7. Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales, and engineering quality procedures.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
3 years experience in power systems, industry practices, and security
Experience performing duties related to ensuring that the systems and networks used for operations are managed securely and in compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards.
Experience configuring, and analyzing local and wide area networks, intranets, extranets, and IP addressing.
Experience performing system hardening, patch management, and configuration management.
Experience designing, programming, or analyzing computer architectures and operating systems.
Proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills
Ability to direct daily work activities with general supervision
Ability to travel
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)


Preferred Qualifications

M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, with emphasis in focus area*
CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP Certification
Published application guides
Experience using SEL products

Location Information

Position can be located in Charlotte, NC; Orlando, FL; Dothan, AL.
