Job Description

The position is within an Assembly and Test Technology Technology (ATTD) group whose objective is to improve the power delivery performance of Intel microprocessors across all product segments ranging from low power mobile processors to high power data center processors.

The candidate will be expected to contribute in one or more of the following areas:

  • Design and Analysis: Developing modeling methodologies to analyze the performance of the power delivery network from the platform regulator to the transistors on the load die through a combination of commercial solvers as well as custom tools.
  • Performance Validation: Active validation of full system performance for model correlation. Component level characterization and development of models for inductors and capacitors.
  • Technology Development: Improvements in power delivery technology ingredients such as magnetic inductors or advanced decoupling capacitors and use of advanced packaging technologies for disaggregation to improve power delivery performance
  • Partnership with Silicon and Platform Teams: Close partnership with silicon and platform teams for co-design and co-optimization of the overall power delivery solution.

Additionally, in this role:

  • Circuit simulation with Spice and EM extractions with commercially available solvers.
  • Post process simulation results using signal processing, statistics, optimization, numerical methods, and programming/automation skills.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and/or classes and/or research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a PhD and 1+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Power Electronics or Electromagnetics or related field
  • Candidate must possess the degree or expect to complete the required degree by employment start date. 

Preferred Qualifications

+1 years of experience with one or more of the following:

  • Silicon and PCB layout and design practices
  • Software development using .NET like frameworks
  • Package and PCB design tools from Cadence and Mentor
  • Silicon design with tools from Synopsys and Cadence
  • Power converter topologies and control schemes
  • Analog circuit design practices for amplifiers, oscillators, and feedback loops
