Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta, GA is looking for research faculty to staff advanced research and development programs in airborne networking and data links.

The ideal candidate will have twenty or more years experience directly related to the projects, customers, and personnel currently assigned to SEAL's Command and Control Communications Program Office (C3PO) and will have strong problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical and managerial problems. Candidates will have a documented military leadership background in US military networks and data link systems and an established track record in interfacing with current and/or potential customers in the conduct of funded research programs currently assigned to this program office.

Education & Length of Experience

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)) and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)) and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)) and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Principal Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)) and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Military Operations, Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or Advanced Military Training (USAF Weapons School, USN TopGun, Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO)) and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must demonstrate mastery of Command and Control Concepts and Operations, including networking and integrating Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Multi-Domain Operations, Sensor Integration, Data Links and Communication Protocols, Beyond Line of Sight Communications and Data Links, Operational Scenario Development, Military Operations and Campaign Modeling and Simulation.

The candidate must have demonstrated mastery of the projects and research thrusts central to this Program Office to include airborne network and data links research, and all aspects of Command and Control systems and concepts development.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
