Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's (GTRI) Support Services Department (SSD) seeks a student assistant to work part-time. The student will work under the guidance of a GTRI administrative manager to perform the following activities which will provide a solid foundation for the student in many business administrative duties such as creating manual, spreadsheets, and sharpening computer skills.

Student assistants will:
• Answer the telephone and answer general questions and referring others to appropriate staff members.
• Make simple posting to various departmental or other records according to standard procedures on the computer.
• File and lookup information and materials in various types of files according to departmental set-up.
• Update Department manuals and computer files input or edit using MS Excel.
• Additional duties as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at a University System of Georgia institution
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Working knowledge of architectural drawings and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong organizational skills
  • Solid working knowledge in PowerPoint and in data entry.
  • Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, Publisher, Acrobat Reader, and Excel.
  • Computer knowledge to search computer files, and/or generate standard reports, and to input or edit information into spreadsheets or programs.
  • A solid/working knowledge needed in filing, sorting and coding by headings or sub-headings.
  • Experience operating or maintaining standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sophomore or Junior in academic standing and desire to work multiple semesters
  • Flexible morning and/or early afternoon working hours Monday-Friday.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
