The School of Informatics, Computing and Cyber Systems at Northern Arizona University (NAU) invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track, lecturer position in Electrical Engineering topics. Candidates with broad backgrounds spanning all areas of Electrical Engineering will be considered, but we are particularly interested in candidates with training and experience in teaching Microelectronics, Power Systems, Embedded Systems, Electromagnetics, and the interface between Engineering and Computer Science at the undergraduate level. Experience developing and teaching online programs and courses is also highly desirable. Student mentoring and advising, participation in department-level service, and course and program level assessment activities for accreditation will also be required.

There is no research workload or expectation associated with this teaching position. This position is renewable based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and department needs. The duty location is the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.

SICCS brings together interdisciplinary expertise in cybersecurity, computer science, electrical engineering, informatics, and applied data science in the context of a large high-research public university. We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees on these topics, offered by roughly fifty faculty to over 1000 undergraduates and 100 graduate students associates with the school. Our core mission is to integrate interdisciplinary developments in scientific and engineering knowledge around computation, data, and systems with traditional disciplines to drive breakthroughs that address key 21st-century challenges. Our faculty are shaping the school’s ground-breaking research programs and the development of its interdisciplinary academic programs. Our faculty also have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers at institutes and centers across campus, including the Pathogen and Microbiome Institute, the Center for Bioengineering Innovation, the Merriam-Powell Center for Environmental Research, the Center for Materials Interfaces in Research and Applications (MIRA), and the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society.

Nearby attractions include the Grand Canyon, Lowell Observatory, Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, Monument Valley, Sunset Crater, Meteor Crater, and Arizona Snowbowl.

Annual Salary:

$65,000 Salary is commensurate to qualifications and experience and determined by professional rank at hire.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field AND
  • An earned Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, conferred before the start date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field,
  • Significant industry experience,
  • Teaching experience at the college level in Electrical Engineering,
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional design, effective pedagogy, and best practices including accreditation practices,
  • Excellent communication skills in English,
  • Successful experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
