Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for assisting and advising
on all matters related to electrical systems, such as electrical distribution, building controls and energy usage.
- Provide engineering support and solutions for new and existing electrical systems
- Liaise and coordinate with specialist engineering colleagues, consultants and vendors
- Prepare technical reports in support of assessment findings, recommendations and design solutions
- Prepare designs and drawings for electrical systems including drawings, cost estimates, calculations and schedules
- Develop and manage projects from initiation through to closure, including planning applications, preparation of tender documentation and evaluation of tenders
- Supervise and commission assigned projects and ensure proper project hand over, including as-built documentation and occupancy certificates
- Keep abreast of current local and international electrical engineering standards, trends, technologies and continually bring leading edge solutions
- Take a proactive role in business development by networking, identifying opportunities, preparing fee proposals, and supporting client retention and acquisition efforts
- Support the training and development of employees
- Provide support as needed to any areas within the company as required
Requirements
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent qualification
- Registered as a Chartered or Professional Engineer Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent considered an asset
- LEED Accredited Professional certification or equivalent considered an asset
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electrical design and engineering
- In-depth knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards and regulations Working knowledge of Government Environment, Health & Safety legislation and regulations
- Knowledge of best industrial practices related to electrical engineering with specific reference to international standards, specifications and technological trends
- Proven track record of successful projects, excellent project design and project management
- Strong technical, problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Must be a highly motivated and a flexible team player, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others
