The Faculty of Engineering invites applications for a



W3 Professorship for Electrical Engineering (Open Topic)



at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Communication Engineering to be filled by 1 April 2018.


The successful candidate is expected to represent one or several of the following fields adequately in research and teaching and hold the chair in Electrical Engineering. Applicants must have outstanding scientific expertise in one of the following areas and experience in major scientific or industry projects:

  • electromagnetic fields, multi-physics simulation, electromagnetic theory (theoretical electrical engineering)
  • mechatronics, control engineering, automation technology, robotics, autonomous systems, electric mobility
  • sensors, signal processing, cognitive systems, measurement techniques
  • electronic systems, microelectronics, circuit design, optoelectronics, MEMS, packaging, assembly and interconnection technologies, embedded systems
  • electrical drives and machines, conventional or renewable power generation, electrical energy conversion, distributed energy supply, electrical energy storage
  • medical electronics, medical engineering


Applications with other related research areas are also welcome. We are seeking a candidate who is willing to collaborate with other disciplines at FAU, research institutions and the industry. The professor will be involved in teaching degree programmes at the department and neighbouring disciplines, especially the “Foundations of Electrical Engineering”.
