Job Details

The United States-Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC), has an opening for a Director of U.S. Operations.  As a non-profit NAFTA related, binational corporation we work with government, business, education and philanthropic institutions to identify, develop and implement solutions or programs to address binational issues and opportunities that can be replicated and/or transferred to specialized organizations, businesses or agencies in furtherance of the FUMEC mission.

 

The position will be based within a U.S. city on the United States/ Mexico border. The position will involve a substantial amount of travel. Salary range will be: $110,000-$120,000 annually plus bonus.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF U.S. OPERATIONS:

  • The DIRECTOR will, work closely with the FUMEC Board of Governors, FUMEC Executive Director and management team to fulfill the organization’s binational mission and enhance the FUMEC image and brand.
  • The DIRECTOR will, be responsible for identifying and developing new funding opportunities to support and expand the FUMEC mission.
  • The DIRECTOR will, be primarily responsible for identifying viable FUMEC programs and projects; appropriate regional, state or national partners; and ensuring their successful implementation and operation within the United States.
  • The DIRECTOR will, be responsible for taking a leadership role in developing FUMEC as a professional binational resource to government, education, civic and private organization stakeholders.

Requirements

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

   The successful candidate will:

  • Be a goal driven, self-starter, high integrity individual possessing a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills in planning, program development and have a demonstrated track record of successful implementation.  
  • Have demonstrable financial, budgeting and management skills with a demonstrable ability to use various fundraising strategies and partnerships to generate additional revenue streams for the FUMEC.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the United States science and technology Education, Innovation and Entrepreneurship programs at the regional, state and national levels, as well as, familiarity with how public agencies interact with foundations and corporate interests.
  • Experience building binational alliances or partnerships with research, university or education centers, innovation and technology hubs and/or experience working with border manufacturing, entrepreneurial enterprises or technical companies.
  • Have a demonstrated record of having been a part of binational efforts which have brought as much benefit to the US partners as to the Mexican partners.
  • Be comfortable living and working in a border bilingual and bicultural environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.
