Description: Unmanned Aircraft Avionics Engineer for Unmanned Flight Operations and System Integration Branch of the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Division.  Will integrate avionics, power systems, and payloads into a range of unmanned air vehicles of various type and sized for flight testing.  Will also be responsible for system component configuration, bench and ground testing, autopilot performance analysis and tuning, and flight testing.  Position will also be involved in research projects involving UAV guidance and control, and related advanced aircraft subsystems and sensor integration.  Flight testing requirements involve system operation, field test configuration, monitoring, and analysis of system performance.

Education: B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent discipline

Experience: This junior-level position requires 5+ years experience working directly with avionics and autopilots, their integration and use on-board aircraft and/or unmanned aircraft systems.  Experience with Piccolo and Pixhawk autopilots required.  Of high importance is experience with configuration and gain tuning with these autopilots.

Manned aircraft pilot license, UAV Piloting experience, Commercial Drivers License, and a Secret or higher security clearance is highly desirable.

Flight crew experience with Tiger Shark UAV desirable.

RC aircraft interest/experience desirable.
