Job Summary:

The TRF Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and maintains electrical systems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability. Duties are directly associated with the TRF Base Support Vehicles and Equipment (BSVE) functions. The TRF Electrical Engineer shall be on-site during the Government’s regular working hours and shall be available on-site within one hour after the Government’s regular working hours.

Essential Job Functions:

+ Performs design work for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property

+ Conducts research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of electrical generation and distribution networks, electrical machinery and components, and electronic communications, instrumentation and control systems, equipment, and components

+ Interprets and adapts traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards

+ Responsible for selected electrical inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers

+ Prepares material cost and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications for electrical and electronic systems and equipment

+ Designs electrical and electronic circuits, components, systems, and equipment

+ Supervises and inspects the installation, modification, testing, and operation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment

+ Develops maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment

+ Investigates electrical or electronic failures

+ Prepares contract documents and evaluates proposals for construction or maintenance

+ Reviews and analyzes preliminary and final design plans and electrical specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy

+ Monitors and/or manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property, utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering

+ Responsible for the correct and efficient execution of assigned work involving the installation, removal, inspection, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems, distribution systems, and fixtures

+ Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the assembly, installation, and repair of electrical cables, power distribution systems, distribution panels, inspections, etc.

+ Secures the cooperation of other crafts/trades supervisors and instills within the assigned staff a cooperative attitude necessary for working closely with other maintenance trade workers

+ Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment

Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university; Electrical Engineering major preferred

+ Must have at least three years of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) engineering experience

+ Previous experience in the engineering/construction management industry

+ Trident Refit Facility experience preferred

+ Capable of complete design services including electric power distribution networks, power load determination, exterior electric, interior electric, and site lighting

+ Excellent communications, effective leadership, and interpersonal skills

+ Familiarity with design and supervision of a project with the aid of Auto Cad software to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution

+ Ability to assess and address both challenges and potential risks of the planned project

+ Demonstrated ability to think creatively and logically to resolve various issues in the development process

Security Clearance:

Must have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
