Job Details

The qualified candidate will lead efforts to thermodynamically characterize advanced aircraft and subsystems. The position requires a broad knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer, with ability to analyze any and all potential technical challenges encountered on advanced weapon systems including aircraft subsystem thermodynamic analysis, structural heat transfer, bay ventilation, aerodynamic heating, thermal and heat transfer methods development, and test planning/execution/analysis model validation. In addition to leading the efforts of subordinates, the engineer must be able to perform all technical work him/herself in a self-contained environment under tight deadlines, using analysis models ranging from simple first-order energy balances to highly complex models of entire aircraft. The qualified candidate will be required to interface with and make frequent design review presentations with company, US government, and associated supplier management and engineers, and to manage personnel to budget and schedule
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance after the candidate has been hired

Basic Qualifications

Team Leadership Experience within multi-disciplinary system development

Experience in one or more of the following software packages: MATLAB/SIMULINK, NPSS, SINDA, PATRAN, FEMAP, Thermal Desktop, or IDEAS

Experience in programming at least one of the following languages: C/C++, FORTRAN, MATLAB, or Visual Basic

Experience in aircraft design

Desired skills

Experience in aircraft design is required; particular emphasis is placed on demonstrated ability to thermodynamically model aircraft subsystems in standalone and multi-disciplinary

Must be able to make presentations to executive leadership

Participation in testing of an aircraft structure or similar

Good communications skills both oral and written
