The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position in Software Engineering. Expertise in any of the core areas of Software Engineering is preferred. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2018, or as soon as filled.

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering (ECSE) offers honours undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Software Engineering. Also offered are degrees in Engineering and Management for each of these programs. The Department also offers Master’s (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Electrical Engineering (with various specializations), and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. The Department is committed to excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary teaching and research, which is relevant to the needs of society and our surroundings. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association.  The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the tenured and tenure track collective agreement.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active research and create innovative research programs within their field. The candidate will also be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless technology, UOIT seeks faculty who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies.

The candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Software Engineering or in a related field; a strong academic background; an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research, leading to peer assessed publications; and be registered, or eligible for and committed to registration, as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Ontario. Related industrial experience would be considered an asset. The candidate must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, the candidate should also possess excellent English language skills, demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.
