Tenure Track Positions in Computer Engineering and Software Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking candidates for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. Applications are invited from candidates in diverse areas related to computer engineering and software engineering, with emphasis on the overall excellence, originality, and promise of the candidate's work as evidenced by the impact, quality, and recognition of his or her scientific contributions and short- and long-term research goals.

The Department has excellent teaching and research programs in electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Engineering Physics. Successful candidates will be expected to supervise graduate students and must also demonstrate a commitment to teaching in their fields of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate level.

This call for applications is to build our programs in computer engineering and software engineering. As we expand, the Department recognizes that our people are and will continue to be our greatest strength. We recognize the importance of academic excellence in conjunction with work/life balance, interdisciplinary collaborative research, mentorship and a collegial atmosphere. We encourage individuals to strive for excellence in accordance with their abilities while maintaining a level of balance between teaching, research, and service to the university and the engineering profession. Candidates must have earned a PhD in computer engineering, software engineering, or a closely related area. Hiring preference will be given to candidates possessing an extensive record of publication in high-quality, reputable, peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings. Consideration will also be given to other publications with demonstrated impact and which have garnered international recognition. In addition, preference will be given to candidates providing evidence of established and respected research and teaching skills, and who have a demonstrated record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels. Successful candidates will also be required in due course to become licensed professional engineers in the Province of Alberta.
