Position Summary

The SOLIDWORKS Technical Support Team is recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to provide high quality technical support to resellers and end users of its SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD design software and accompanying electrical design applications. 

Position Description 

•    Proactively engaged our resellers and customers to analyze, track, and resolve their technical issues in a timely manner
•    Diagnose and solve a range of issues, including, but not limited to: installation & setup, general 3D modeling, mechanical engineering application specific usage, and hardware related software issues
•    Remotely troubleshoot reseller/customer software issues, installation and licensing issues, PC software performance and stability issues using web applications
•    Develop workarounds and operating techniques for specific situations and communicate them to customers and resellers
•    Liaise with the Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Definition groups to investigate and resolve problems
•    Help develop and implement web based support initiatives including knowledge bases, technical and operational techniques, documentation
•    Verify reported software issues and report them to development and offer work around solutions where possible
•    Contribute to the SOLIDWORKS Knowledge Base repository

Requirements

Requirements 

•    Conferred Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, or technical equivalent
•    3+ years work experience post bachelor degree graduation in a design, manufacturing environment, or technical software support role
•    Experience
     > Working with SOLIDWORKS or other 3D CAD system
     > Designing printed circuit boards (PCB) and connected devices (IoT)
•    Knowledge of ECAD systems integration solutions and ECAD/PDM and related technologies
•    Ability to work independently and/or within a collaborative team structure 
•    Positive, self-motivated individual with high level of enthusiasm and willingness to provide outstanding customer service 
•    Highly organized with critical attention to details when solving technical problems
•    Ability and willingness to self-teach new and advance software functions; coaching and instruction will be provided, but we want someone who goes after knowledge
•    Functional use of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and knowledge Visio, Access or SQL
•    Strong communication skills in two parts: 1.) very strong writing skills utilizing the rules of English grammar; 2.)  verbally clear, concise, and grammatically correct oral (speaking) communication skills in English
•    Experience working with ECAD and electrical design software packages (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken E3, EPLAN, Elecworks) 
•    Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design tools 
•    Master or Ph.D. conferred or pursuing
•    At least one additional language other than English, such as (but not limited to), French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, etc
•    Advance knowledge and experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint functions, and SQL
