Technical Leader – PDU Electrification 
Knoxville, TN; Palo Alto, CA; Charlotte, NC; Home Based

The Position:
This position leads the evaluation, development and implementation of Electrification end use technologies (specifically Industrial technologies) with utility members and the development of end use electrification end use strategic electrification opportunities in their service territories.  This position will assist member utilities in the application of tactical tools to pursue program implementations with their Residential, Commercial and Industrial customers in the following areas:
• Improved productivity and competitiveness of end-use customers through advancements in overall Electrification technologies, reduced costs, and improved throughput;
• Reduced net regional emissions to benefit the public-at-large;
• Enhanced quality of end-use customers’ products or services;
• Reduced on-site emissions at end-use customers’ facilities, which assists compliance with environmental regulations and fosters worker health and safety.

Leads research efforts in particular scientific disciplines or technologies and participates the development and application of products and services in those areas through contractors and departmental or cross-functional teams. Applies technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget. May conduct research directly in complex, high impact technical or scientific fields

Job Functions:
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to industry issues and gain input on needs from members/stakeholders and identify current and emerging technical issues.
• Develops research or services opportunities of value to EPRI members that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
• May provide oversight of a project team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
• Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
• Broaden technical expertise and interface with national and international technical networks with manufacturers, consultants, and academia and research organizations.
• Communicates strategies and results, written and verbal, to program members, potential members and external stakeholders through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
• Manages small or medium (less complex) projects including budgets and resources

Requirements

Education Level and Years of Experience:
• Advanced degree in science/engineering or equivalent experience required
• MS or PhD in Engineering or Sciences preferred; Professional Engineer’s (PE) licenses preferred. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Recognized as having expert knowledge in a broad field of expertise by the science, engineering or technical community both within and outside EPRI.
• Ability to communicate complex science and technical issues in a way that can influence both the technical community, membership and Sector Council
• Requires little day to day supervision. Receives direction and guidance to set high level priorities.
• Communicates project status, plans, and results during member visits, presentations to Sector Council.
• Ability to communicate science and technical studies and results in a manner that exhibits technical expertise but also is easily understood by energy stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Individual contributor

The Ideal Candidate:
• Knowledge of residential, commercial and industrial technology attributes
• Hands-on experience with electrification technology implementation
• Experience in developing, leading and implementing electrification technology projects
• Knowledge of the utility industry regulatory process
• Knowledge in the Electrification industry energy resources
• Skill in leading projects, organizing, analyzing and documenting project results
• Good written and verbal communication and project management skills
