This position is for a System Engineer (SE) in the Engineering & Technology organization for Lockheed Martin RMS. The work will be performed in Manassas, VA

The successful candidate must have experience in program execution in agile environments and system engineering of large, complex systems. The candidate will assist with specifying software-level requirements for developing web-based applications using web service architectures. Candidate will be expected to participate in the SW development process to the development life cycle. The candidate may also support Software Development and Test & Integration as part of the full life-cycle experience

The candidate will work very closely with an integrated functional team in an Agile environment. The candidate could be called upon to work with SW and HW during equipment setup, installation, and maintenance/debug efforts. Candidate will support the team with analyzing stakeholder needs, developing and documenting requirements, and providing inputs for modeling Configuration Items (CIs) and Components (CSCs) and their interfaces. Candidate may be asked to multitask between contract and IRAD, as required. IRAD work will focus on large-scale computing and Big Data processing technologies as key enablers to future system improvements through the application of high performance/high reliability computing technologies and tools, development of algorithms, and demonstrations. The successful Candidate will be expected to apply their expertise web technologies and web-service architectures to develop and evaluate prototypes for demonstrating feasibility and identifying/quantifying key performance drivers or gaps

The successful candidate must be self-motivated and work well in small to medium size groups with team leadership abilities a plus. The candidate will interact with both the Lead Systems Engineer and the System Architect to address matters that affect execution performance of the project or the defined architecture and provide regular progress status and participate in re-plans as required to meet cost and schedule objectives for the technical work scope

Basic Qualifications
Basic qualifications for this role will include a Bachelor's level degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related technical field and zero to two years of professional experience. Familiarity with PC and workstation design tools and environments used for system and subsystem engineering is required. A demonstrated potential to work in a team environment on one or more of the following areas is required: analysis, requirements development, design, modeling, simulation, integration, and test. Familiarity with computer architectures and algorithm development for a range of system/subsystem applications is required. Strong leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, and team-oriented is required. The ability to multi-task is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment is required

Desired skills
Strong knowledge of one or more of the following: system and software architecture; algorithm and software development; integration, test and verification/debug of complex systems; signal processing; command and control systems; sensors; modeling tools like Rhapsody, MagicDraw and/or SysML; C/C++; MatLab; project life cycle; integration and test of complex systems; data science / data mining; Big Data analysis and methods; agile development methods
