Job Details

This position is in support of MUOS constellation sustainment at Pt Mugu, CA. The Satellite System Engineer is a generalist within the MUOS Space System Sustainment group with experience in every satellite bus subsystem, and are responsible for generating command and telemetry databases, TEMAs, MACROs, limit files and building commanding scripts to control the satellite. They are the go to person for all satellite subsystem health and status, anomalies and command and control of the satellite. This position will draw upon mission operations & factory AI&T experiences with focus on a systems engineering approach to sustaining the MUOS constellation and extending the useful life of each satellite. The engineer will interface with, and mainly support the NAVY customer and other Lockheed Martin sustainment and operation groups.

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
1- Serve as the satellite bus subsystem expert supporting a constellation five MUOS satellite. Review and trend all subsystems data, examine data for signs degradation or anomalous behavior
2- Provide direct bus subsystem engineering support (TT&C, STT&C, GN&C, FSW, Power, Propulsion, and Thermal)
3- Issue weekly and monthly subsystem status & reports
4- Generate satellite monthly status report & monthly status meeting
5- Review each satellite telemetry weekly and provide flight spacecraft bus & payload hardware analysis, trending, and identify and anomalous behavior
6- Lead failure investigations, FRBs and anomaly resolution in real-time and post recovery
7- Provide recommendations to the customer during anomaly resolution, power management, and any special activities. Write, review and approve operational procedures. Support console operations from the SIL, the MSSC or the MASC
8- Prepare reports, engineering memos, and other technical reports
9- Maintain and update command and telemetry databases, limit files, MACROs, FSW and TEMAs
10- Support technical (like power management) working group
11- Support anomaly response, detection, resolution and root cause analysis
12- Provide administrative and technical support to FRBs, & PERBs
13- Provide system engineering support for operational changes
14- Maintain each satellite On Orbit Handbook (OOH)
15- May require periodic travel to factory or customer facilities

Basic Qualifications
1- Ability to work across functional organizations and disciplines to resolve engineering issues
2- Familiarity with A2100 satellite subsystems
3- Familiarity with satellite design & verification
4- Excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate properly with LM and customer representatives
5- A BS or engineering degree is required
6- 7-9 years of systems engineering or other related experience

Desired skills
CPE or delegate training completed
LSE (Launch Support Equipment) knowledge and experience
