This is an opportunity to work on the Labs and Tech Services (L&TS) System Engineering team. This position is for HITL_SW Lead Systems Engineer is the System Engineering focal point between JSF Avionics Development Environment (JADE) development, Vehicle Systems Simulation Model (VSSM) development, and Mission Systems Integration Lab (MSIL)/Vehicle Systems Integration Lab (VSIL) System Engineering. This lead oversees systems engineering for both JADE and VSSM software products. The HITL_SW Lead Systems Engineer requires strong leadership skills to provide team guidance, coordinate with stakeholders to fully understand capabilities and requirements. This position oversees the full development life cycle with requirements, verification and test results, change requests, and Work Package Evaluations (WPEs). The HITL_SW Lead Systems Engineer will create technical charts and present during requirement reviews, create executable team plans, and manage plans by driving execution to meet program milestones. The lead will also participate in creating bids and estimates and reporting performance. This leader must have extensive technical knowledge to manage and develop SWAT verification tests and procedures. The HITL_SW Lead Systems Engineer has a wide range of responsibilities and must solve complex problems with little or no additional direction.

The HITL_SW Lead Systems Engineer will direct the activities of the HITL_SW system engineering team to create requirements, develop test procedures, and execute test procedures for the JADE, VSSM, Health Monitoring System (HMS), and other HITL_SW products across multiple classification levels and venues. Ensure the system engineering team plays a role in verifying that Software Problem Anomaly Reports (SPARs) have been corrected prior to closure. Serve on the HITL_SW Change Control Board to ensure required system engineering tasks are bid and included in the software development tasks. Serve on the HITL_SW SPAR Board to ensure defects requiring updates to system engineering products are assigned and completed appropriately. Provide weekly status updates to functional and project management. Participate in the new business estimation process, ensuring system engineering efforts are bid appropriately. Engage with HITL_SW stakeholders to ensure requirement and verification needs are being met. Ensure required system engineering documents are being produced and delivered where applicable. Ensure members of the HITL_SW system engineering team are tasked appropriately and flow issues to both functional and project leadership. Participate in business capture activities where appropriate to ensure customer needs are captured prior to beginning tasks

This position will require close coordination with F-35 Line of Business (LOB) Project Leadership, plus proactive engagement with L&TS HITL_SW, subsystem procurement, hardware development teams, and other teams both inside and outside LM Aeronautics, to ensure an effective system engineering communication interface is established and maintained.

This position requires unique program security clearance

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field from an accredited college or university

Demonstrated extensive technical knowledge that is capable of verifying requirements through the creation/execution of SWAT automated and manual test procedures; Updating Test Procedure module with new procedures and test results within requirements and verification traceability tools DOORS; and Updating Serena Dimensions documentation to support associated software development life cycles within configuration management tools

Experience in development of avionics hardware in-the-loop simulation systems.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This position requires a Secret security clearance to start, with a current background investigation

Desired skills
- Degrees preferred: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics
- Experience in development of System Requirements and Allocation to subsystems.
- Experience in development and execution of System Test Procedures
- Familiarity with DOORS and Serena Dimensions tools
- Familiarity with SWAT test language and scripts
- Familiarity with Change Request (CR), Requirement, Verification, and Review life cycles (JWP, WPE, etc.)
- Familiarity with F-35 Mission Systems Architecture and subsystems.
- Demonstrated experience in detail planning (estimating, task scheduling using MS Project)
- Experience in delivering products to external customers
- Working knowledge of EVMS and implications to project decision making.
- Experience in development of detail System Design
- Working knowledge regarding military threat analysis.
