Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Programs


This position is with the Skunk Works Mission Systems and Software team located in Fort Worth, Texas. This position is in support of the ADP Mission Systems Roadmap. The specific focus of this position is to lead a technical team in defining the design, system architecture, and integration of aircraft communications subsystems.
Tasks will include:
-Perform architecture trade studies and define/develop the architecture to support communications functions
-Develop system level requirements for the communications subsystem
-Work with suppliers to mature and reduce risk of potential technical solutions & architectures
-Work with other members of the design teams to develop link budgets to support Customer requirements
-Develop design artifacts to capture preliminary communications system design
-Develop and present materials to the Customer

The position will also share time with ongoing development, integration and testing of software defined radios and combined RF systems in lab and flight test demonstrations.

The selected candidate will be a member of a high-performing team supporting multiple projects concurrently. The candidate must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills as the position will require frequent internal interactions with fellow team leads and project leads as well as other software engineers within the group. The ability to travel on occasion for team interaction and integration and test activities may be required

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Selected applicant must have a final Secret and be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors or above degree in an engineering or scientific discipline

Experience in one of the following; Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Aviation Technology

Experience with System Requirements.

Experience with System Architecture

Desired skills
System design and Requirements generation
Experience & familiarity with communications and datalinks
Communications testing experience
Familiarity with Open Communications Standards
Radio architecture knowledge & Software Defined Radio (SDR) experience
RF Basics: transmitters, receivers, signals (analog/digital), RF behavior (loss/gain, DBs, bandwidth, etc), modulation, spread spectrum, etc
Avionics system and embedded processing

Must also demonstrate the following:

• Strong decision making and judgment
• Independent and self-motivated
• Oral and written communication skills
• Basic financial and business acumen
• Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver results for the business in partnership with program managers and other functional disciplines/organizations as needed
• Demonstrated experience using standard office software tools/ solutions e.g., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Ability to travel
