Job Details

Provide cost estimating and business analysis for Management, Engineering, Programs, Purchasing and Proposals throughout the entire product life cycle from concept through development, production and field operations
Key Tasks:
• Perform varied analysis to help manage product cost including preparation of Bottoms-up, Rough Order of Magnitude (RoM) and Parametric cost estimates
• Help develop and implement design and manufacturing solutions for low cost and best value
• Identify part cost reductions opportunities using DfMA, “should cost” and other tools
• Help develop quality Cost Estimating Relationships (CERs)
• Evaluate system and component “should cost” to support supply chain
• Help prepare business cases for competing design and manufacturing concepts
• Prepare cost targets and cost management rationale for Commodity Procurement
• Lead or help manage cost projects from concept to implementation across stakeholder organizations
• Implement Sikorsky/LM corporate Design to Cost and Life Cycle Cost standard work processes
• Evaluate progress and risk of cost reduction implementation plans for Manufacturing, Procurement and Engineering
• Support programs with Development, Procurement and O&S Cost estimates

Additional group activities:
• Develop life cycle cost estimates for conceptual and ongoing programs
• Use technical and business skills to model costs for the entire project scope using both traditional and parametric estimating techniques and tools
• Support continual improvement of estimating techniques by collecting and normalizing financial and technical data
• Conduct DTC (Design to Cost) activities on government, international and commercial programs
• Help develop new standard work and processes to improve cost and best value analyses throughout the product life cycle
• Support the development and implementation of various cost reduction projects

Basic Qualifications
Candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Design, Mech, Aero, Industrial, Manuf, System Engg, etc.). Alternatively, a business/economics major with experience in statistics and/or mathematical modeling would be well considered. A master’s degree in engineering and/or business discipline is a plus

Desired skills
Candidate will have 5 – 10 years’ experience that may include a wide range of cost estimating activities in engineering, manufacturing, proposals, purchasing, or operations and support. Experience working with US government customers is a plus. Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering experience is a strong plus. Individual must also have strong writing and presentation skills as well as strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).

As the need for cost analysis and management increases, growth opportunities will be present for those who gain new skills and experience. Formal and OTJ training will be provided for specific tools and processes
