Lockheed Martin Advanced Energy Storage is developing transformational energy storage technologies that will enable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, to power our society anywhere, anytime, and at low cost. We are a small, development arm of a mature organization located in Cambridge, MA.

This is a full-time position for a systems-oriented engineer with project engineering skills to design and develop grid-scale energy storage systems. The candidate will define system-level requirements, with responsibility for both electrochemical devices and the balance of plant. The candidate will work with team members to ensure the sub-system requirements are met through proper design, test, and integration. The candidate will need to excel in a fast paced R&D environment within a heavily multi-disciplinary team

Basic Qualifications
A BS in relevant technical discipline such as chemical, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering, and at least 4 years of product development experience is required. The candidate must be an effective technical leader who can communicate well to an audience of diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated experience leading project teams is required

Desired skills
An advanced technical degree is preferred. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have successfully transitioned industrial equipment from prototype to production. Experience in process engineering and chemical process modeling is useful, and refined analytical skills are highly desirable.

Experience with any of the following is desirable:
- Electrochemical systems, such as fuel cells, batteries, or electrolyzers
- Balance of plant and the process equipment used in electrochemical systems (ex. pumps, valves, heat exchangers, sensors, instrumentation)
- Industrial control of such process equipment
- Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and the design and development of safety systems
- Certification of such energy storage systems (ex. UL, CE, IEEE, NEMA, NESC, etc)
