Job Details

This position reports to the senior manager of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineering on the F-35 program. In this position the candidate will be performing scientific research, processing field maintenance data, evaluating fix effectiveness, and statistical/trend analyses on the F-35 Electro-Optical (EO) Systems

The successful candidate will analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts of EO Systems, to recommend design or test methods for attaining customer-specified operational reliability, using knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies. The candidate will analyze preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering program to achieve customer reliability objectives. The candidate will analyze projected product utilization and calculates cumulative effect on final system reliability of individual part reliabilities. Drafts failure mode and effect analysis sheets or formulates mathematical models, using computer-aided engineering equipment, to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design. Enters data to simulate electrical inputs, transient conditions, temperature, stress, and other factors to develop computer models, and analyzes and adjusts design to predict and improve system reliability. Advises and confers with engineers in design review meetings to give reliability findings and recommendations. Determines units requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data. Reviews subcontractors’ proposals for reliability program and submits evaluation for decision. Reviews engineering specifications and drawings, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements. Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors, for example numbers and causes of unit failures. Monitors failure data generated by customer using product to ascertain potential requirement for product improvement. The candidate will analyze and interpret data from all operational maintenance data sources for use in reliability and maintainability analyses on the system including reliability and maintainability quantitative measures, and fix effectiveness projections, Failure Reporting, Root Case and Corrective Action Analysis (FRACAS), Trending, and Statistical analysis. Design Team coordination in selection and evaluation of various configurations (trade studies), equipment, and interfaces with suppliers are included. Provide R&M data via FRACAS database as appropriate. Support JRMET/TDSB and RMRB boards as required on R&M matters for the aircraft; support evaluation and document deficiencies that impact the R&M performance of the aircraft and participate in the evaluation of corrective action to determine the effectiveness of the fix; track base operations for trends.

The successful candidate must be able to help develop concise formats, and generate and present information utilizing computer readouts, graphs, charts, tables, written reports or other methods

**Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.**
