Applicant will serve as the senior technical advisor for the Missile Defense National Team – Integrated Discrimination Team (IDT), reporting to the IDT Director and responsible for technical review of all team products. IDT evaluates performance of the current architecture and future concepts applicable to improving BMDS discrimination. The IDT Chief Engineer will oversee end-to-end analysis of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) in support of the systems engineering process for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for performance requirements for future planned architectures that will employ various discrimination and counter-countermeasure techniques. The IDT Chief Engineer will oversee the development of large-scale complex BMDS M&S tools incorporating multi-phenomenology tracking and discrimination capabilities with multi-sensor correlation and data integration algorithms to garner results. Individual will ensure team is applying sound engineering and analytical process in a coordinated effort. Responsibilities include chairing the Integrated Discrimination Working Group and internal review boards as well as attending design reviews applicable to hardware/system builds that apply discrimination techniques. Individual will be relied upon as a subject matter expert representing the IDT and the National Team in support of decisions impacting the MDA Integrated Discrimination portfolio. Applicant will provide technical support to the engineering process as it applies to bringing forward new concepts and techniques believed to improve BMDS performance against advanced threats. The Chief Engineer will coordinate with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks. The individual can expect to author and provide briefings to the Missile Defense Agency Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives. Individual will act as a mentor to less experienced personnel

Basic Qualifications
Individual must have a technical background in statistical M&S and have led teams performing algorithm development using MATLAB or similar language environment. Must have a good understanding of Integrated Discrimination and how the BMDS works from the perspective of sensors (RF/Radar and EO/IR), missiles/interceptors/kill vehicles, threats (lethal and non-lethal), detection/tracking, as well as some understanding of Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.). Experience in Systems Engineering, especially in design synthesis and requirements development are necessary. Experience analyzing complicated physics problems using medium- to high-fidelity parametric models/simulations utilizing Monte Carlo techniques to provide insight into performance capabilities of real-world weapon systems is necessary. An understanding of multivariate statistical analysis, data mining, data fusion, and regression testing are expected. Experience analyzing BMDS and leading analysis or M&S teams is necessary. Experience performing trade studies and analysis of alternatives are expected. Individual must possess good communication skills and expect to interact with customers and subject matter experts frequently. Capable of working both independently and in a team environment

Desired skills
Experience in most or all of Ballistic missile defense system, Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, counter-countermeasures, or threats. Electronic Attack and Electronic Protection experience. BMDS threat modeling. High Energy Laser analysis. Bistatic radar analysis. Image analysis. Pattern recognition. Demonstrated innovative problem solving. Knowledge of systems engineering process for the development of system performance requirements, objectives, evaluation criteria and analysis for BMDS Ground and Flight Test is a plus. Experience evaluating future technologies, assessing risks, technology and algorithm readiness are pluses. Individual with Interim Top Secret clearance will be considered if investigation has been in process and is nearing completion. TS/SCI
