This electrical systems engineer will support the Orion Environmental Controls and Life Support Subsystem (ECLS) electrical lead engineer in the subsystem’s component development. This engineer will ensure implementation of Electrical, Electronic and Electromechanical (EEE) parts requirements for ECLS hardware and will be the component point of contact for the ECLS team. Components include pumps, fans, brushless DC motors, solenoid valves, instrumentation, heaters, and electronic controllers. The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:

• Coordination of component designs and performance with hardware suppliers
• ECLS point of contact for EEE parts requirements
• ECLS point of contact with the Lockheed Martin (LM) EEE Parts organization
• ECLS point of contact for electrical components
• Coordination with the Ionizing Radiation Working Group for parts assessment and approval
• Support development of specifications for ECLSS assemblies including verification requirements
• Coordination of Radiation Assessment Matrices for electronic parts
• Generation, tracking, and processing Non-Standard Parts Application Requests (NSPARs)
• Tracking and coordination of Parts Application Analyses/Worse Case Analyses

Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance required for this role

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
• This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen

Desired skills
• Experience/training in electronic or electrical systems and component design
• Excellent Oral/Written Communication skills
• Proven ability to work in a multi-functional / multi-discipline team environment
• Willing and able to travel, domestic (typical 1 week trip, 3 to 4 trips per year)
• Excellent organizational skills - Ability to review and organize large amounts of engineering data
• Working Experience in an engineering discipline (coop or other)
• Experience or familiarity with military parts selection
• Basic understanding of ionizing radiation and its effects on electronic/electrical parts
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC requirements and testing
• Familiarity with EEE parts requirements and selection
• Experience in developing technical specifications
• Experience in developing electrical or electrically controlled hardware
• Experience with use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)
