This is a leadership position for the Technical and Managerial leadership for the Orion System Design and Integration (SD&I) group that touches all the areas of the Orion spacecraft. This position reports directly to the Orion Level 2, SEIT IPT lead. The SD&I group is a collection of approximately 40 multi-disciplined engineers located primarily in Denver and Houston with technical leads that report to the SD&I manager. This group comprises Orion System level design and integration for: Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Data (including Commands, Telemetry and Data Validation), Fault Detection Isolation and Response, Cockpit and Human factors, and the NASA external interfaces for Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System, Mission Systems and the Communication &Tracking Network.

Members of the SD&I team are also Spacecraft CPE delegates supporting ATLO at NASA Kennedy Space Center, system level testing in the Orion Test labs and certification of the spacecraft. The position requires technical coordination and collaboration with all of the Orion IPT’s, the NASA customer, and oversight of the Orion system design and subsystem/component integration assuring technical adequacy of the Orion system to meet requirements including performance, design and construction, mission and ground operations and design verification and end-to-end qualification

Basic Qualifications
• BS in Engineering or related discipline
• Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) attributes in either a technical or leadership role
• Ability to work and interact with multiple engineering disciplines
• Spacecraft development engineering or operations experience
• Expertise and/or working knowledge with all elements of the System Engineering discipline: Architecture, Design, Integration, Requirements, V&V, Test, and Operations
• Proven schedule and milestone development and execution
• Effective, proven communication and presentation skills

Desired skills
• Prior formal leadership or ‘L-code’ experience
• Spacecraft design and integration experience
• Human rated spacecraft development or flight experience
• Earned Value (EVM) /Cost Account Manager experience and/or familiarity
• Software interface or software development experience
