This position is in support of the Combined Orbital Operations Logistics Sustainment (COOLS) contract. Primary support location is at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO
The System Administrator’s primary responsibilities are participating in the implementation, maintenance, and support of information technologies, to include Unix and Windows systems and components. The System Administrator schedules and performs installations and upgrades to OS/COTs, software, and database packages in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. In addition, this position will coordinate the overall integration on new development systems as they transition to sustainment. The System Administrator is responsible for managing appropriate software solutions to ensure server data integrity, monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance level, monitoring security alerts and application systems, and working with other staff to ensure that all appropriate patches are applied in an automated and timely fashion
Perform software development, testing, and installation of Windows Security Releases on servers and workstations. Platforms include Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2003.Develop scripts using PowerShell, VBScript, or other similar tools to improve administration automation. Perform daily System Administrator tasks in Windows and Solaris environments, to include monitoring and troubleshooting physical and virtual systems. Apply cybersecurity best practices utilizing current DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure high compliance status is met. Perform server builds and quarterly maintenance on such servers. Perform periodic COTS assessments to determine continued compliance, usage, and needs. Troubleshoot any issues and provide support across the Information System

Basic Qualifications
Active DOD SECRET clearance
Must Meet DOD 8570 Requirement (current Security+ or CISSP Certification)
Proficient in Windows and Unix operating systems environments
Minimum 2 years VMWare or other virtualization platform experience
Minimum 2 years PowerShell and Windows scripting experience

Desired skills
Experience supporting MilSatCom sustainment mission
Experience working in a military base environment
Tivoli Storage Manager, Veritas, or other backup and recovery applications
Familiarity with cybersecurity practices (virus protection, applying vendor critical patches, system accreditation, etc.)
General understanding of ClearQuest and/or ClearCase
