Job Details

• System Administrators will manage the resources of an entire computer system.
• The Systems Administrator will work closely with members of the contractor team, the customer, as well as associate contractors, in performance of their duties
• Configure the operating system software in accordance to project/operational requirements. (e.g., assigning user profiles, log-ins, passwords, defining printer or modem access, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage and setting up user restrictions)
• Responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems and related infrastructure, ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational guidelines.
• Develops and maintains installation/configuration procedures.
• Develops plans for short-term and long-term loss of system hardware and software.
• Performs routine system maintenance such as backing up or archiving files and adding software updates.
• Works closely with configuration management, software and hardware maintenance personnel in a fast paced environment.
• Works with the network security manager/information assurance personnel to set up network security policies and procedures.
• Applicant will monitor system security and issue passwords at periodic intervals
• Will assist in the creation of user documentation to include; user manuals that include sign-on and sign-off procedures, use of basic commands, software policies, user responsibilities, etc
• Applicant will researches/recommends automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Applicant will perform daily system monitoring; verify availability of all system/server resources, reviewing/archiving system and application logs
• Rotating on-call/response support required
• Perform Information System Security Engineering (ISSE) tasks as assigned

Basic Qualifications
• Must know the Windows operating system, to include Windows Server 2003 Web Edition and Windows Server 2008 or newer Microsoft Operating Systems and/or Knowledge/familiarity of Linux systems
• Experience with IBM Websphere or similar systems
• Experience with MS SCOM or similar systems
• Knowledge of SQL and database administration
• Knowledge of VMWare
• Knowledge of Database and Storage Devices (preferably NAS)
• Ability to install and configure Windows XP, Server 2003, 2008 or newer Windows Operating Systems
• Ability to install third party software on Windows systems, IE. AGI/STK
• Must be able to perform normal and remote systems administrations procedures, such as adding, modifying and deleting user accounts. System backups, performing software Maintenance such as installing operating systems patches and updates.
• Must be able to install, configure and maintain vendor software i.e. Java, Adobe, Apache and Windows Web services.
• Must have understanding of Configuration and Data Management operations.
• Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Must have Security +, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP) or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certifications
• Rotating on-call/response support required

Desired skills
• Additional related certifications and training
- CyberSecurity/Information Assurance related experience
- Network Engineering/Technician related experience
- Additional Experience in other Operation Systems, environments, and software applications
