The System Security Engineer will be primarily responsible for requirements, design, and implementation of hosted government connected information systems, and networks and act as backup and advisor to other staff members supporting collateral systems and networks.  The System Security Engineer will work across the organization to understand research requirements, architect systems to meet these requirements based on research security’s interpretation of Government requirements.

Requirements

  • Assist in developing GTRI strategy for hosted government systems and networks like SIPR, JMETC, SDREN etc…
  • Serve as authority for hosted government systems and networks implementation decisions in coordination with RS and Director of Secure Computing
  • Coordinate with both internal and external agencies as needed to ensure hosted government systems and networks are compliant with the appropriate DoD requirements
  • Design, implement and support hosted government systems and networks in compliance with Risk Management Framework requirements
  • Design, implement and support hosted government systems and networks in compliance with applicable agency requirements
  • Analyze and manage Laboratory requests  for hosted government systems and networks requirements

  • Serve as the Configuration Manager for hosted government systems and networks
  • Track compliance with all applicable hosted government systems and networks requirements such as, DISA STIGs, Cyber Command Directives, Operational Orders and any other applicable or mandated requirements.
  • Create and maintain all POAM actions to ensure compliance
  • Maintain HBSS configurations through government ePo servers
  • Perform mandated actions such as ACAS scans, patch management etc…
  • Ensure Perimeter network infrastructure is in compliance with applicable agency requirements
  • Support agency penetration testing and scans
  • Create and maintain all IT related accreditation documentation for hosted government systems and networks
  • Act as technical POC with designated agency technical support staff 

Education: MS required.  DoD 8570 certification required with a minimum of Security+, and CCNA.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of overall DoD experience, of which 5 years must be in the cyberspace domain. 
  • Experience managing senior level cyber security program
  • Experience as a risk decision maker
  • Experience with DoD’s implementation of the NIST Risk Management Framework
  • Experience obtaining DISA Authority to Connect (ATC) and other agency’s Authority to Operate (ATO)

Other: Due to our research contracts with the US federal government and the responsibilities of this position, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens, and must already have a DoD Active Security clearance.
