As a System Safety Engineering Associate Manager within Lockheed Martin Space, you will manage the process which reviews product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and will establish safety requirements for assigned systems. Responsibilities will include:

• Direct the analysis and recommendation of safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures to control or eliminate hazards
• Ensure safety documents are developed to support customer and test/operational range requirements
• Oversee audits of operational areas and report effectiveness of system safety program
• Oversee accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions
• Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/ disciplinary actions

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in technical discipline (e.g., engineering field) or equivalent discipline (e.g. math, physics, chemistry, etc.) with 7-10 years of overall engineering experience
• Must be experienced/fluent in conducting analysis of flight hardware, Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, or Electrical Ground Support Equipment
• Experience with contractual and Engineering requirements and their execution throughout the product lifecycle
• Candidate must be a US citizen
• Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance

Desired skills
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
• Experience in leading diverse engineering teams
• Technical ability to develop safety analytical skills necessary to assess system/subsystems, identify safety hazards and recommend safety requirements to system design and operations to mitigate safety risks.
• Ability to develop and Peer Review System Safety Engineering documents as required to support customer requirements.
• Experience in presenting to management and customer
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of System Engineering and Reliability engineering e.g. requirements derivation/flowdown and failure modes and effects analyses
