This position works in a dynamic team environment supporting the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) and Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) programs. The role: Help the System Safety Engineering team in performing hazard analyses so that mishap risks are identified, mitigated and accepted at the appropriate level. Ensure that system safety requirements have been flowed to specifications for the design of safety critical components and subsystems. During assembly and test operations, ensure that procedures are performed to minimize risk to hardware and personnel - especially during hazardous and critical operations. Participate in major Program reviews and be a point of contact for System Safety for Program, Assembly, Test and Launch Operations (ATLO), Customer, Subcontractor, Launch Vehicle contractor and other governmental agencies or contractors. Help coordinate the approval of range safety packages and on-orbit risk assessment reports. Ensure adequate floor support for ATLO critical and hazardous operations performed in the factory and at remote sites. Provide support for incident investigations and future mitigation efforts. In the performance of this role, travel to Lockheed Martin and Customer sites will be required

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an Engineering related discipline.
* Knowledge/experience in Systems Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering field.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Resourcefulness, creativity, and the ability to take the initiative in development and completion of work projects under minimal supervision
* Must be able to interface with Customer and Program Management
* Must be able to work occasional overtime in support of weekend and off-hour activities
* Must be a United States citizen
* Ability to obtain a security clearance to at least the Secret level

Desired skills
* Working knowledge of Safety standards and AFSPCMAN 91-710
* Familiarity with spacecraft Assembly, Test and Launch Operations (ATLO) activities and launch vehicle/ground system integration processes
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation and associated deliverable documentation
* Basic understanding of MIL-STD-882 and demonstrated knowledge supporting full program life cycle System Safety products and analyses
* Working knowledge of requirements derivation/flow down, incident and failure investigations, root cause analyses and corrective actions implementation.
* Experience performing Functional Failure Modes and Effects Analyses
* Current Secret-level security clearance
