This position works in a dynamic team environment supporting the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Program. The role: Support the System Safety Engineering team in performing hazard analyses so that mishap risks are identified, mitigated and accepted at the appropriate level. Ensure that system safety requirements have been flowed to specifications for the design of safety critical components and subsystems. During assembly and test operations, ensure that procedures are performed to minimize risk to hardware and personnel - especially during hazardous and critical operations. Participate in all major Program reviews and be a point of contact for System Safety for all Program, Assembly, Test and Launch Operations (ATLO), Customer, Subcontractor, Launch Vehicle Contractor and other governmental agencies or Contractors. Coordinate the approval of range safety package by the Customer and Range Safety. In addition, coordinate the approval of the on-orbit risk assessment report by the Customer. Ensure adequate floor support for ATLO critical and hazardous operations performed in the factory and at remote sites. Provide support for incident investigations and future mitigation efforts. In the performance of this role, travel to Lockheed Martin and Customer sites will be required

Basic Qualifications
*Knowledge/experience in either Systems Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related engineering field
* Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered an emerging authority
*Familiarity with spacecraft Assembly, Test and Launch Operations (ATLO) activities and launch vehicle/ground system integration processes
*Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (example, Excel and PowerPoint)
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to develop and present plans, reports and briefings for both written and oral presentations to senior program management and Customer independent review boards
*Ability to perform hazard analyses
*Must be able to interface with the Customer and Program Management at various levels and be a self-starter
*Must be able to work occasional overtime in support of weekend and off-hour activities.
*Ability to travel as required
*Current DoD Secret clearance

Desired skills
*Working knowledge of Safety standards and AFSPCMAN 91-710
*Demonstrated knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation and associated deliverable documentation
*Experience performing Functional Failure Modes and Effects Analyses and providing safety oversight of end-item hardware assembly, test and launch operations
*Demonstrated knowledge supporting full program life cycle System Safety products and analyses, to include flight and ground systems for both flight test and operational end-item hardware
*Working knowledge of requirements derivation/flow down, incident and failure investigations, root cause analyses and corrective actions implementation
*Experience supporting Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, System Acceptance Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews
