System Engineer

Access Energy Cooperative (AEC) has an opening for a System Engineer. AEC is a progressive member owned electric distribution utility located in Mt. Pleasant, IA.  AEC serves over 9,000 meters in ten counties and has a large industrial load base.  Duties would include system design, planning, protection coordination and specifications. The successful candidate would be responsible for: working on long range plans, construction work plans, and power requirement studies; managing a system for tracking project costs, including estimates and actual costs; coordination of the activities of outside contractors and consulting engineers regarding specific construction, maintenance or planning projects; providing direction in system design using approved materials and construction practices, applicable codes and regulations; assisting in verification of system construction practices through field inspection and confirmation or corrections; tracking equipment and managing an equipment database as it relates to the distribution model; assisting in GIS mapping, engineering models, SCADA and engineering data maintenance; assisting in various engineering studies, including fault current and sectionalizing studies; following safety rules and company policies; assisting in emergency restoration of facilities during storm or general outages.
