Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts supplier audits and assess supplier capabilities and capacity.
    Monitors and reports supplier performance status.
  • Controls the quality of materials, products and services. Conducts capability studies and determines supplier accreditations. Conducts initial supplier qualification.
    Benchmarks supplier quality metrics and processes. Develops quality key performance indicators. Develops, implements and monitors supplier quality management systems and metrics.
  • Conducts root cause to resolve design issues and implements corrective action. Identifies risk areas and takes mitigating action. Designs and analyzes product inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment.
    Compiles and distributes supplier visit and audit reports.
  • Establishes/validates supplier process controls. Evaluate suppliers' metrology capabilities and assess supplier understanding of company product requirements.
     Develops supplier work processes and tools and identifies opportunities to increase functional capabilities and improve quality systems and processes.
  • Evaluates and approves supplier process changes. Develops and implements control plans and specifications. Assists suppliers with first article inspection and develops acceptance test procedures.
  • Develop sand strengthens supplier quality management programs. Drafts technical reports and coordinates internal material review board process
  • Participates in key program milestone events such as design reviews, production readiness reviews or test readiness reviews.
  • Conducts technical training and coaching.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Compile and distribute supplier visit and audit reports following each supplier visit. Reports are to include clear improvement recommendations and actions when required.
  •  Benchmark supplier quality metrics and processes with existing suppliers and potential new suppliers. 
  • Manage internal communication and employee education on supplier quality control and supplier monitoring systems.
  • Manage the internal MRB process and suggest ways to develop and improve internal NCM processes.
  • Develop Quality KPI’s for all suppliers and report metrics on a regular basis. 
  • Develop and implement a supplier quality management system in compliance with AS9100
  • Ensure all suppliers have appropriate accreditations and capability for the  materials, products and services being supplied.




Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Ability  to understand and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Proven ability to assess supplier manufacturing processes and make recommendations for improvements to ensure delivery of quality products.
  • Proven ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems using root cause/corrective and preventive action standard practice.
  • Experience  working with ISO quality standards and other Aerospace standards, AS9100,
     AS9102, AS9103.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and suppliers to requirements and standards.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies, IPC/WHMA-A-620B Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
  • Knowledge of digital circuit design parameters (e.g., throughput, rise time, clock frequencies, propagation delay) and hardware description languages (e.g., Hardware Description Language [HDL], Verilog).Knowledge of computer hardware and software components (e.g., processors, memory, interfaces, high order languages), and characteristics (e.g., throughput, processing architecture, timing, capacity).

  • Ability to analyze problems (troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, modification, or redesign) of assigned end items to support the design, development and modification of company products using knowledge of engineering disciplines (ME, EE, etc.).

  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, communications, mechanical and tool and test software design technologies. Ability to support the design, development, test, installation, certification, delivery and
    in-service support of avionic electrical, electronic and information technology systems and sub-systems.

  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g., wire harness design, grounding and
    shielding design techniques, lightning protection).

  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical
    information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.

Education & Experience

  • Typical Education and Experience: Technical bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years related work experience or a Master’s degree with 3 or more years. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in  mathematics, sciences or technologies.
  • 5 years’ experience in supplier quality management role or other supplier  management related role
  • AS9100 Lead Audit Certification – preferred
  • Six Sigma BB Certification -- preferred
