Join MITRE, one of ComputerWorld's Top 100 IT Places to Work, where you will have the opportunity to lead a team of engineers that administer over 200 databases and containers.   In this role, you will use your management skills to help support complex enterprise-wide corporate database applications on-premise and in the cloud.


Provide strategic and tactical technical direction on Database and Container technologies.


Manage and coach a team of 11 senior engineers.


Interface with development and operations teams to provide advanced solutions for database or container challenges.


Ensure database and container platforms are maintained and enhanced as appropriate


Provide database & container support to internal development teams.


Develop and document division database and container policies and procedures.


Work with InfoSec to help create and implement security policies.


Provide customers with new database and container capabilities as they become available.


Implement highly scalable and cost-effective databases using AWS.


Assist with migrating on-premise corporate applications to AWS.












Required Qualifications:


10+ years of experience working in IT


5 + years of experience working with databases in development and production environments.


5+ years managing technical staff.


1+ years working with Docker containers.


1+ years working with AWS services.


Experience with building and administering databases.


Experience with using Linux operating systems and tools.


Experience with building and deploying Docker containers.


Experience with scripting automated solutions (e.g. Shell/Python).


Experience with using Amazon Web Services.


Experience with project management or Kanban tools like Jira.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Strong interpersonal skills.


 


Desired Qualifications:


Experience with Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, & SQL Server databases.


Experience with continuous integration systems (e.g. Git, Jenkins).


Experience with DevOps tools and techniques.


Experience with AWS RDS (Relational Database Service).


Experience with AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service).
